In 2005, in a partnership between the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, the Ardmore Development Authority and the City of Ardmore, the Hickory Ridge Addition was initiated in an effort to increase the amount of affordable housing in the city. The Ardmore Development Authority and the City of Ardmore put in the initial stages of infrastructure and sold the lots to local builders at a price below market value to keep the sales price of the homes in an affordable price range.
The homes in Hickory Ridge are a minimum of 1200 sq. ft. (not to exceed 1800 sq. ft.), 3 bedrooms, 1 and ¾ bathrooms, 75% brick and a two car attached garage. Home construction in the Addition began in 2007, with the first homes completed in 2008. As of August 2010, there are over 120 occupied homes in Hickory Ridge. Plans for Phase 3 are already underway with construction to begin in 2011. There will eventually be a total of approximately 200 homes in the Addition.
